Hydrogen Recovery from Gas Pipeline

Pipelines are an excellent way to transport hydrogen from a site production to final users because they are currently able to blend methane gas with up to 20% of hydrogen without major changes at the infrastructure.

However, unless the gas has only heating purpose, it would be important to recover hydrogen from pipeline for other purposes, such as for fuel cell applications. An example could be a gas station able to supply hydrogen recovered from local gas line.

Unfortunately it is not possible to recover pure hydrogen with standard filter membranes, for this reason DUMA has been involved in hydrogen recovery systems on commercial scale in order to guarantee the possibility to extract only hydrogen from gas pipelines.
